I hate to say it, but this game punishes you for dying. I don't get upset with having 8 redline snipers on my side I just join them, why? Because, more than likely they would be useless on the frontline anyways, blame matchmaking.
The biggest thing and hardest thing, in my opinion, in this game to learn is to "Know when to hold them, and know when to fold them." I still screw this up sometimes but you will be better off in the long run albeit is less fun. A vote surrender option would be nice but don't count on CCP to do anything more than tweak values in these hotfixes.
What you are ignoring about the 8 bad snipers in your redline.... time and time again they turn out to be just as bad at frontlining and although this will end the match faster lowering the clone count, most players don't want to keep dying and get punished isk wise or in the very least meta wise on kd/r.
The best way I have found to play is to match your team's enthusiasm.
If they are getting into the nitty gritty you get your ass in there. If they are all hanging back just prepare to fail and either sneak around killing lone redberries or hang way back with the rest sniping in one way or another.
As everyone prides about this game, it's a team based and gear based shooter. If you are outmanned and outgunned just accept your fate and join the rest of the redline snipers until the match ends.

snipers are not really that bad, if it takes 1 shot to kill my scout 2 shots for my medium suit and 2 or 3 shots for my commando depending on the gun/damage mods. Do you want a OHK on more suits from extreme range? occasionally i will get out the c-15a sniper rifle and if i as non dedicated sniper can do well enough with it i see nothing wrong with its damage. being that any 'dedicated' sniper will be using a proto gun and will have maxed proficiency they should be doing alot better than me. that being said not all maps suit sniping and there are not always ideal places to snipe from on those which are more suited to it. For those maps which don't suit sniping there is a rather simple solution, be useful and join the ground an pound. for more open maps unless your using your Thales ( with the better scope and rarity) be more dynamic and move with the battle. yes you may die but moving about to support your team will get you more WP's and appreciation from your team
My NT-511 on a level 3 with prof 3 sniper caldari commando and one adv light mod (Pretty cheap fit at like 17k) can one shot head shot anything but sentinels and proto shield based caldari medium tanks. If its a light suit it's dead. If it's a medium suit that isn't a dual tank caldari proto it's also dead. Most commandos also drop unless they are shield heavy. The headshot bonus combined with the inherent armor bonus wrecks armor based suits. The Dual tanks just take a headshot + body shot. It's really all about the headshots. If they are moving too much to get a headshot, they can't retaliate. If they can, you are too close to them. My Thales or charged sniper is something I pull out for when you have the sentinel coward proto bears in the red line. Still I maintain the biggest issue is the head glitching. This renders any counter sniping impossible. I'm like a broken record when it comes to head glitching, but it is what it is. Can't snipe em and they can snipe you... it's a problem and it probably will never be fixed. I am well aware not everyone intentionally head glitches, I know I don't but it's still a problem that CCP should of fixed a long time ago by either adjusting the collision detection with terrain or adjusting the FOV on your merc. If your character model can't see over a hill neither should your camera... the camera is too high. |

I personally don't care about K/D i just try and try for my team. if i get 1300 WP on a battle where we get rolled over and the next persona gets 500 then 235 ect. which has happenes why do they deserve a reward for sitting in the battle and either sniping or MCC sitting? If i get half or one third of the teams total points i deserve that proportion of the money. i have risked they have not
I suggested a concept of using salvage based isk calculations as the brunt of the payout based on WP as the metric but it wasn't a popular Idea:

From its reception though I'm pretty sure very few people actually want a merit based isk system. For one thing this cuts out many of the isk generating schemes that I'm convinced >80% of the playerbase either have performed or still perform to generate isk. Especially since the most popular method of isk farming PC was finally shut down in a recent hotfix, a little too late but I guess later is better than never. The most sleezy method of making like 40 accounts and farm/terminating clones for 500k isk a pop could easily be stopped by just giving new players more militia gear to start and no isk. It's not like they should be buying skills right off the bat anyways, and it won't take long for their wallet to outweigh the sp pool they have. |

Please CCP make it so that you cannot get any WP or kills from the redline. This is really starting to become a problem when almost 50% of your team is doing this. You can't stop the proto stomp, all that can be done is for the game mechanics to not reward regular proto stomping if we want it to stop. Because god knows meta leveled gear matches will never happen with CCP.
I get the notion that CCP intended for Prototype gear to not be affordable to spam but they left too many easy isk exploits for this not to be the case.
Most of the deep seeded problems that Dust has always had like poor player retention is rooted in bad game design. And as CCP has shitcanned this game, it's not likely to change. |

In the matches where i have gotten much higher WP than the rest of the team, the isk reward has been huge (300-450k)
I think he means it should primarily be isk based. As in afk farming being pointless since you won't have any WP and therefor no isk. As it stands though you get something like 150k for sitting in the MCC and twiddling your thumbs for an entire match.
Which people can just rubber band their movement stick to run constantly into a corner of the MCC or rig up a way to push crouch every now and then to keep from getting booted. |
